The Lodge and Spa at Pico Bonito is a 400-acre world class resort in the rain forest on the north coast of Honduras. It has been featured in Conde Nast Traveler magazine and endorsed by National Geographic Explorer. I had heard about this place and I was very happy to be staying here for three nights. We were welcomed to the resort with a fruit drink (with optional rum) while we checked in and had our luggage delivered.
This is a note to my hairdresser. Never again let me go to Central America with long hair. The humidity does not allow fine blond hair to look good - EVER.
The grounds at Pico Bonito are beautiful and filled with lush gardens that attract all kinds of birds, just like you would expect in a tropical rainforest. The hummingbirds are spectacular and there are many different species on the grounds. There was a violet sabrewing that would wake me up every morning feeding on the Heliconia outside my bedroom window.
