Why Don’t Hummingbirds Come to Your Feeders? – They Don’t See Them!

You need to help hummingbirds find you. This might seem simple, but you would be amazed how many people don’t think of this when they decide to hang a feeder. It has to be seen by hummingbirds!

That means a hummingbird flying high over your property looking for a food source has to have a clear view of your feeder. If you hang it under the eave of your house where it can only be seen from one direction, or if you put it under a tree or under an umbrella or a patio, it’s going to take a long time for a bird to find it.

Hummingbirds will find your feeder faster if it can be seen by a hummingbird flying high over your property. Use your umbrella (GDY 7.5Ft Red Patio Umbrella – paid link) or eave to hang red flags or red ribbons (KINGLAKE Red Ribbon – paid link) to entice a hummingbird to come down and investigate further!

Red to a hummingbird means flowers and that means food.
